In our virtual side event, organised by the Bermeo Tuna Wold Capital Association (BTWC), within the framework of the World Ocean Conference in Lisbon, we seek to make known the perspective of the different leading cities in the tuna sector on the sustainable management of the tuna sector and to contribute to an improvement in competitiveness in all countries, with the creation and collaboration of an alliance of world cities for the sustainability of tuna. Cities in which tuna is a fundamental part of their economy, social processes, history and future projection, and which pursue the objective of contributing to the sustainable management of tuna and the sustainable development of the oceans, with a strategy that is aligned with the 2030 Agenda and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The general topic of the conference was: “Scaling up ocean action based on science and innovation for the implementation of Goal 14: stocktaking, partnerships and solutions”.

This event will also present the International Declaration agreement for the sustainability of tuna that is expected to be presented next year at the Bermeo Tuna Forum, and in which cities, from a global and collaborative perspective, will be able to contribute to its promotion in all areas of influence of the sector.

Organisations linked to the tuna value chain, BTWC, public institutions and representatives of the different world tuna cities will take part in this virtual event.
